Why is each Charterurie Board a unique size?

At the Urban Hobbit, we work to preserve as much of the natural lumber as possible. By allowing the unique pieces of wood to determine the exact sizing of each board, we maximize the use of the resource and minimize the amount of waste produced.
Why does each piece have a unique size?

All of our pieces are made from unique pieces of wood. As part of our commitment to sustainability, we do not waste sections of the tree just to adhere to standard sizes. By using the largest amount of the wood piece possible, we preserve the unique shape, grain, and history of the tree it came from.
Is the finish on the Charcuterie Board safe to use with food?

Yes! ....
I have a tree that fell in my yard and don't want to just send it off to the mill. What do I do?

If you are local to the East Tennessee area, contact the Urban Hobbit for a consultation. Depending on the tree type and size, we may be able to transform your fallen tree into a beautiful piece for your home. Just remember, good things come to those who wait - the wood drying and craftsmanship process is not a fast one!
Does the Urban Hobbit remove trees?

No. We are not a tree service company. Removing trees takes great skill and experience. This is best left to the professional arborists!
